Welcome and congratulations to everyone who has been offered a place at Darwen Vale from September. We look forward to working with you. There are still some places available so please get in touch if you want to discuss your options.
Thank you for showing an interest in our school. I am delighted to welcome you to our website which can only be an introduction to the ethos, atmosphere and aspiration of Darwen Vale High School.
Darwen Vale High School is a good school. We know that a good education has a transformational effect on the lives of young people now and in the future so we are committed to providing high quality teaching and learning on a daily basis coupled with strong and effective support systems. Our school is a place where every child is recognised as an individual, where their voices are encouraged to be heard and their ideas developed.
We believe that education should be a challenging but enjoyable experience. We work hard to instil in all our pupils the desire to do their very best because this is crucial to achieving success. We support pupils to gain the appropriate qualifications and skills they need for a lifetime of success and provide a wealth of additional learning opportunities via an impressive range of extra-curricular opportunities.
Visitors frequently comment on the purposeful and friendly working atmosphere within our school. We believe that this arises partly out of the commitment and approachable style of our highly qualified staff and partly out of the firm but fair discipline we maintain.
Our aims and values
“Unlocking potential for extraordinary achievement”
“Together we achieve our own personal excellence.”
If you decide to entrust us with your child’s education, I am confident that your child will experience a first class education. The staff and I look forward to working with you to help your child to achieve their own personal excellence.
Mrs Fiona Jack
End of term arrangements
I cannot believe that we are approaching the end of the first year in our multi award-winning new building. It has been an extremely challenging but enjoyable year.
I can now confirm arrangements for the end of this term and the start of the new term in September. As usual, school will close for the summer break at 12:20pm on Friday 19th July 2013. This is to allow us to say goodbye to staff who are leaving us at the end of term. I am sure you would want to add your good wishes for every success in the future to Mrs Barnett (Design Technology) and Miss Richardson (Maths) who are both leaving to take up new teaching appointments. Transport arrangements are in place for the early finish and anyone wishing to have a school lunch can order a lunch bag any morning this week.
School will re-open for the new Autumn term on Tuesday 10th September for all pupils. Please ensure that your child arrives in good time for registration which begins at 8:45am.
